DEANSTON
The latest Alpha Whisky release is a 12YO Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at the Deanston Distillery.
The independently bottled Alpha Three, Deanston has fully matured in a first-fill Bourbon barrel since September 2009. The result is a beautiful golden spirit with soft, fresh taste with a super-smooth finish - hard to believe it has been bottled at cask-strength of 56.3%. A great dram for anytime of the day.
TASTING NOTES
Colour: Pale gold
Nose: A lovely fresh nose with lively citrus notes of lime, yuzu, grapefruit and kiwi fruit. Hard boiled candy and fresh sherbet. When reduced, more perfumed notes emerge but delicate honeysuckle and fresh cut spring flowers. After time it develops into a smooth toddy of lemon and honey.
Palate: Toasted oat flapjack with honey, demerara sugar and golden sultanas, and toasted brioche. When you add a little water it becomes crisp and fresh with apple, green grape and green gages. More of the toasted oatiness emerges laced with a light fresh woodiness.
Finish: The initial mouthfeel is fizzy like sherbet, then relaxes and becomes silky smooth and very soft. An easy drinking whisky and an ideal aperitif.
