ROYAL BRACKLA
Our fifth release was distilled at the Royal Brackla Distillery on the Cawder Estate in the Highlands of Scotland. The distillery has been producing whisky for over 200 years and was the first whisky to be granted the Royal Warrant in 1833.
This whisky matured in a American oak, Bourbon cask from March 2011 before being finished in an Oloroso Sherry cask for over two years before being bottled in 2023. The single cask whisky is to be bottled at cask-strength of 55.1% with an out-turn of only 225 bottles.
The bottling will support the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation with 10% of sales being donated to the charity.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Rich gold
Nose: A delicious and inviting nose rich with fruits; pineapple, red apple, fresh fig, juicy plum and strawberry jam. With water it relaxes and becomes much lighter with lychee in light syrup, stewed gooseberry, poached pear and fresh kiwi fruit.
Palate: Parma violet, baked plum with blackcurrant jelly. When reduced it is cooling and smooth with a soft spiciness of poached pears with custard cream and golden sultanas. Warming sponge fingers with soft golden syrup with crushed ginger snap.
Finish: It has a very attractive rich mouth-feel at full strength, then silky smooth and coating.
