Inchfad
The Inchfad is a discontinued whisky from Loch Lomond Distillery. It is a heavily peated single malt, which takes its name from an island on the loch which has the ruins of an 18th century distillery. As the inchfad is now only used to add peat and smoky flavours to blended whisky, this is an unique opportunity to enjoy this historic spirit.
Tasting notes
Colour: Gold
Nose: Syrupy sweet initially like lemon lozenges with honey. Hints of minty freshness with green hay burning smoke. When reduced, salted lemons and very crispy bacon with a subtly of damp hemp developing after time.
Palate: Malty and meaty at full strength - salami, air dried smoked ham. It has a chewy gristy character like an expensive sourdough loaf topped with oatmeal. With water there are slight sulphur notes, proving dough, brioche with slightly burnt sultanas.
Finish: Bold and chewy with a very slight effervescence; best undiluted to appreciate the strength of a complex malt.
